Session Two: Can someone please tell us what to do?

Facilitators (tag team):

 What the course will cover:

The Health and safety at Work Act and the IPENZ Code of Ethics impose obligations on designers and engineers to ensure the health and safety of people who will be affected by the designed artefact throughout its lifecycle. The legal aspects of these obligations are now relatively well understood, but it is often a challenge to develop a design process that ensures these legal obligations are met.

During this workshop, the principles of Health and Safety by Design will be discussed. The workshop will also discuss how to implement H&S by Design principles as a core element of an organisation’s design process, and give some case studies exhibiting the wider commercial benefits of properly applying H&S by Design principles. An update on Worksafe NZ’s work programme on Health and Safety by Design will also be provided.
